Jen Slaw, Executive Director
Performing since 1991, Jen Slaw was the recipient of the 2002 International Jugglers' Association's (IJA) Three Ball Award for creativity and innovation in three ball juggling, and was a featured performer at the 2007 IJA Annual Convention. Her style is influenced by her diverse backgrounds in art, dance, and structural engineering, for a unique, creative, and feminine presentation. She is a nationally touring performer and has entertained audiences of all ages for a variety of corporate, educational, and private clients including American Express, Chase, Delta, Merrill Lynch, Ben & Jerry's, Holland America Cruise Lines, F.A.O. Schwarz, Cirque du Soleil, and the Little Orchestra Society at Lincoln Center. She is a regular performer at Monday Night Magic, New York's longest running Off-Broadway magic show. An experienced instructor, Jen teaches private and group juggling and circus arts classes to students of all ages and levels, and has directed her own Summer Circus Arts Camp for children since 2006. She has taught with the Big Apple Circus, and in countless schools and libraries across the US. She is often invited to perform and lead workshops for advanced jugglers at national juggling conferences. Jen has volunteered for organizations such as the American Cancer Society and Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation throughout her performing career, and began volunteering with Juggling Life in 2008.
Jen's path has not been a straight line. After graduating valedictorian of her high school class, she went on to earn dual degrees from Swarthmore College (BS in engineering and BA in art), and then accepted a position with the New York City Parks Department as Assistant to the Chief of Design, where she was thrilled to be a part of the construction of the Mets minor league baseball stadium in Coney Island. She then worked for several years as a structural engineer with a private engineering firm in Manhattan, before fully transitioning to life as a professional juggler. Jen believes that "the possibilities are endless!" in juggling and in life, and she hopes to encourage others to follow their passion and find their own unique path. She is thrilled and humbled to accept the position of Executive Director of Juggling Life, and aims to make a difference in the lives of others by not only entertaining them, but inspiring them to pursue their own creative dreams.
